Size Guide
Getting the size right first time saves you a return. Below you will find our full size conversion, how to measure your foot properly, and notes on fit.
If you are between sizes or unsure after reading this, email us at contact@elmsleyandrowe.com or message us on WhatsApp at +44 7537 178548 with your foot measurement and the style you are looking at. We will tell you which size to order.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FOOT
Foot length in centimetres is the most reliable measurement there is. Size labels vary considerably between brands, but 24.5 cm is always 24.5 cm.
- Measure at the end of the day. Feet swell slightly through the day, and you want the size that fits then, not first thing in the morning
- Stand on a sheet of paper placed against a wall, with your heel touching the wall
- Put your weight on that foot. Feet lengthen under load, and measuring while seated gives a shorter reading
- Mark the tip of your longest toe, which is not always the big toe
- Measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres
- Do both feet. Most people have one slightly larger. Use the larger measurement
If you wear socks or tights with the style you are buying, measure with them on.
SIZE CONVERSION
| UK | EU | US | Foot length (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | 36 | 5 | 22.5 |
| 4 | 37 | 6 | 23.5 |
| 5 | 38 | 7 | 24.5 |
| 6 | 39 | 8 | 25.5 |
| 7 | 40 | 9 | 26.5 |
| 8 | 41 | 10 | 27.5 |
Conversions between UK, EU and US sizing are approximate by nature, because the three systems use different scales. Always go by the foot length in centimetres rather than by the size you usually buy.
FIT NOTES
- Between two sizes? Take the larger one. A sandal with a few millimetres of room is comfortable. One that is a few millimetres short is not, and no amount of wearing in will change that
- Wide feet. Styles with adjustable straps or buckles accommodate a broader foot better than fixed-strap designs. The fastening type is listed on each product page
- High instep. Look for styles with more than one adjustment point, so you can balance the fit across the foot
- Swelling. If your feet swell in warm weather or over the course of a long day, an adjustable style will serve you far better than a fixed one
- Half sizes. Where a style is not available in half sizes, take the next size up
MEASUREMENT TOLERANCE
Measurements are taken by hand and are approximate. A variation of a few millimetres can occur between individual pairs of the same size and between production batches. This is normal in footwear manufacturing and is not a fault.
If a pair you receive differs materially from the measurements published here, contact us within 30 days with your order number and photographs. We will replace it or refund you in full, at your choice, and we cover the return postage.
IF THE SIZE IS WRONG
It happens, and we have made it as painless as we can.
You have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of delivery, and a goodwill window of 30 days in total to return an unwanted pair. We pay the return postage in every case and send you a prepaid label.
We do not process direct exchanges. The quickest route is to return the pair you have and place a new order for the size you want, so you are not waiting for the return to be inspected first.
Please try sandals on indoors, on a clean surface or carpet, so that the soles stay unmarked. Keep the shoe box too, since it forms part of the product, and post it inside an outer bag rather than attaching the label to it directly. Full details are in our Returns and Refunds Policy.
STILL NOT SURE?
Send us your foot measurement in centimetres and tell us which style you are considering. We will tell you which size to order.
